Tesla battery supplier LG buys 650 acres in Queen Creek Arizona for a massive 2.8 BILLION dollar battery plant. South Korea based LG Energy Solutions was the sole bidder and winner of the land in Queen Creek in an auction. The company paid the minimum bid price of a whopping $84.44 million through the Arizona State Land Department on April 14th, 2022. That's nearly $130,000 per acre! The plant will provide an estimated 2,800 jobs in the area. Completion date is set to be sometime in 2024.
The site is located on the northeast corner of Ironwood and Germann roads near Zimmerman Dairy Farm and CMC Steel Arizona southeast of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Queen Creek. This $2.8 billion battery manufacturing plant makes up 1 million square feet with a production capacity of 11 gigawatt hours. Demand for batteries continues to soar across the globe to meet the demand for electric vehicle manufacturing.
However not everyone is happy about this….They are building the site plan just a few hundred feet from residential neighborhoods. There is even a petition signed with thousands of signatures to stop this facility from being built.
